What a wonderful day of remembrance and community. Our chapter was honored to host 42 widows of our Veteran heroes and to present Gold Star banners to the family of Colin Michael Lambert.
Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of our members, everything was beautiful and the food was delicious. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed, especially the Embassy Diner and Colony Diner for their generous donations.
A special thank you also goes to the Hicksville High School ASL Club and the talented student singer who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem — a heartfelt start to a meaningful day.
After our garage sale, Mary and her furry helper delivered the remaining blankets and towels to Paws of War in Nesconset. Their team was so appreciative and has kindly invited our NY-14 chapter to tour their facility in the future. We look forward to making that visit part of our schedule!
It was an absolute honor for Debi and Andrea to present a Blue Star pillow to Eleanor Rizzuto, a remarkable 104-year-old World War II veteran who served in Africa and Italy. Her strength, grace, and service are an inspiration to us all.
Our Blue Star Garage Sale was a wonderful success, raising funds to help us continue supporting veterans and military families throughout the year. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make it such a pleasant and productive day.
The sunny weather was a bonus, and remaining donations went on to benefit Paws of War, Beacon House, the book drive for Gabreski, and Amvets. A special thank you to Debbie Stacy-Bove for her organization and leadership in making it all happen.
Another Honor Flight Long Island has touched down, and what an emotional evening it was. Watching these heroes return from their journey to Washington, D.C., where they visited the memorials dedicated to their service, is always deeply moving.
Every flight is filled with remarkable veterans, but this one was especially meaningful - it included a World War II veteran among the honored guests. What a privilege it is to witness such gratitude and welcome them home.
